FARMVILLE, Va. - The Piedmont men's golf B team got things underway on Saturday with the first round of the Tiger Spring Invitational, held at the Manor Golf Course in Farmville, Virginia.
The Lions find themselves in the hunt with 18 holes remaining as the second round began Sunday morning.
Piedmont was led in Round One by senior 
MICHAEL CLARDY, who fired an even par 72.
All four counting scores for the Lions were in the 70's to deliver a team score of 307, putting them in a tie for third place with the final round still to play.
MATTHEW ARIZA delivered a 78 as did 
RYAN COLWELL, while 
CONNOR HIXSON and 
CONNOR LANE each posted 79's.
Piedmont also had two players competing as individuals and both had strong opening round performances. 
MARIO PEREZCASSAR III totaled five birdies to lead all Piedmont players on his way to a 5-over 77.
CAMERON LUCAS had an outstanding day as well, posting a 4-over 76 that included four birdies and nothing worse than bogey on his card.
The Lions are just underway in the final round and are in the hunt for the team title, while Clardy sits at the top of the leaderboard on the individual side.
