FRENCH LICK, Ind. - The Piedmont men's golf team delivered a solid first round on a rainy Monday as the Division III Showcase got underway in French Lick, Indiana.
The Lions were led by
JOSH HEBRINK, who carded a 1-under 69, matching his career low round. Hebrink is in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard, trailing leader Jack Stafford of Berry by one stroke.
The Elk River, Minnesota native began his day on the par-4 5th and made par. He followed with the first of three birdies on par 3's at the 6th to move to 1-under. However, after making another birdie at the 11th to get to 2-under, he made three consecutive bogeys and was 1-over. From there, Hebrink rallied back, making three birdies in succession and finishing his round with a birdie at the par-3 4th to get back into red figures.

BEN HUBER also delivered a solid round, with a 2-over 73 that included three birdies. Huber sits at T-19 on the leaderboard.
FRED ROBERTS IV shot a 5-over 75 and
RYAN COLWELL made his spring debut with the varsity and was the final counting score for the Lions with a 7-over 77.
ERIC PENLAND was just one shot worse than Colwell with a 78.
The Lions were 14 over as a team with a 294 score on the par 70. Piedmont trails first-place Carnegie Mellon by just seven going to the final day.

- Hebrink has shot in the 60's twice now this spring, as he also shot 69 in the second of the Savannah Invitational.
