MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Piedmont men's golf team improved by 13 strokes on Tuesday and jumped up the leaderboard to take sixth place at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama.
After being led by
FRED ROBERTS IV on Monday, the Lions were more balanced across the board in Tuesday's final round, shooting a team score of 294 after a 307 in the first round.
Transfer
BEN HUBER delivered his career-best round of 2-under 70, making four birdies and just two bogeys to bounce back after a tough start Monday.
JOSH HEBRINK also rebounded, delivering an even par round of 72 that included three birdies and one triple bogey to go with 14 pars. Hebrink finished the tournament at 6 over and earned a T-20 finish out of 95 golfers.
Sophomore
ERIC PENLAND also delivered a solid round, avoiding big mistakes on his way to a 2-over 74.
Despite falling back on Tuesday with a 6-over 78, Roberts IV still was the team's best finisher, earning a T-11 thanks to Monday's 3-under 69.
Senior
MICHAEL CLARDY equaled Roberts IV's 78, making one birdie on the day.
Methodist ran away with the team championship and had three individuals tie for the individual title, all finishing at 4-under par.
Up next, the Lions will be off for two weeks before taking part in the Division III Showcase in French Lick, Indiana, beginning Monday, April 11.
