JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - FRED ROBERTS IV fired a career-best round of 4-under 68 as the No. 10 Piedmont men's golf team completed the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate on Saturday afternoon in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Roberts IV began his day with an eagle at the par-5 1st and then carded six more birdies on his way to a team-leading 68. The junior from Richmond Hill has moved to a tie for 14th on the individual leaderboard.
 

As a team, the Lions moved up a spot and into a tie for 11th on the team leaderboard with a score of even par 288, one better than yesterday's first round.

JOSH HEBRINK caught fire on the back nine, coming in in 2-under 34 for his second consecutive 1-over 73.

Newcomer BEN HUBER also battled back from a tough start, overcoming a stretch of four consecutive bogeys on his front nine to match Hebrink's back nine 34 and come in at 73 overall.

The final counting score from the Lions came from sophomore ERIC PENLAND, who backed up his 1-under 71 from yesterday with a 2-over 74 in Round Two.

Emory leads as a team at 14-under with 18 holes to play while Christopher Newport's Alex Price and Rochester's Brendan Frain are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 8 under.

The event will conclude with the final 18 holes tomorrow morning.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Roberts IV delivered his fifth career round in the 60's but had not gone as low as 68 before. This marked his second round in the 60's in 2021-22 as he also went low for a 69 in the second round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational.
