PREVIEW: Lions Travel to Meet No. 1 LaGrange in CCS Semifinals

DEMOREST, Ga. - Following a resounding victory in the CCS Quarterfianls over Berea, the Piedmont men's soccer team will travel down to LaGrange to face the No. 1 seeded Panthers. The contest is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Lions enter the contest 4-8-5 on the year but have a ton of momentum as they are on a three game win streak.

LAST TIME OUT:

Piedmont used two late goals against Berea to down the Mountaineers in their last contest. The Lions dominated the first half with 18 shots but had just one goal to show for it. The Mountaineers fought hard, equalizing in the second half. However, late goals from Colin Vogel and Jonathan Ferdinand secured the Lions victory. The sqaud turned out a season high 31 shots and will look to carry this high octane offense over into the contest with LaGrange.

REGULAR SEASON V LAGRANGE:

Piedmont 0, LaGrange 1 (10/11 at Piedmont)

These two teams met in Demorest during the regular season, where the game ultimately tilted in favor of LaGrange with the lone goal from Lucas Duke being the deciding factor. The Lions were in the contest for all 90 minutes, only being out shot 13-7. The contest at the WAC was extremely physical, with 9 cards being issued including two red cards.

PIEDMONT NOTES:
- Though having a record of 4-8-5, the Lions have played quality soccer over the last week and a half. Since a season changing win at Belhaven, the Lions have not looked back.
- Piedmont saw three players receive All CCS Honors. Bobby Wood (GK), Colin Vogel (F) and JARRETT SCOTT (D) were all awarded recognition on the All CCS Second Team in their respective positions.
- The Lions enter on a three game win streak over the past week and a half.

LAGRANGE NOTES:
- LaGrange enters the contest as the No. 1 seed in the CCS Tournament. They had a bye in the first round and will be playing in their first ever CCS Playoff game against Piemdont. 
- Panther Enrique Hernandez was named CCS Player of the Year. He leads the CCS with 20 goals this season and is second in DIII for goals scored. He is a driving force behind the Panthers offensive success.
- The squad had 5 other players awared CCS honors and Head Coach Ryan Dickson was named Coach of the Year.
- The Panthers sport a 10-4-2 record this season and. CCS record of 4-0-2 which earned them the No. 1 seed.
