DEMOREST, Ga. - A beautiful night in Demorest saw Piedmont lose its CCS home opener to LaGrange.
Limited opportunities in the first half for both squads led to a 0-0 tie at the halfway point. The Panthers saw their best opportunity just moments before half but were unable to convert.
LaGrange edged out Piedmont in the shots category 5-2 through the first 45.
The play turned physical in the second half and in the 70th minute, LaGrange scored the first goal of the contest.
A red card to each team in the 76th minute left each squad down to 10 men for the reminder of the contest.
The Lions had an opportunity to equalize at the buzzer as CRISTI PASCARU placed a shot in the top right corner, but Panthers Keeper Daniel Bojcic made the save. The contest ended just moments later 1-0 in favor of LaGrange.
Up next, the Lions host Maryville College on Saturday, Oct. 15 with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Piedmont was outshot 13-7 in the contest.
- Both teams were assessed a red card and played the final 14 minutes of the contest with 10 men.
- LaGrange had triple the number of corners the Lions had, 9-3.
