DEMOREST, Ga - The Piedmont men's soccer team dropped a home CCS contest to Maryville 4-1.

The scoring got started early for the Scotts in the 8th minute. An early free kick opportunity just outside of the box set Maryville up and Craig Mcllwraith put it away in the top right corner.

Piedmont attempted to respond but Scotts Goalkeeper Mykal Manfred kept the Lions quiet for the first half.

Just moments before half, a handball in the box gave Maryville a penalty kick opportunity. Jorge Graniel slotted a beautiful ball in the bottom right to make it 2-0.

Starting the second half, the Lions responded to make the contest 2-1. A hustle play from Freshman COLIN VOGEL created an opportunity where he dished off a beautiful ball to Junior RICARDO RUIZ. Ruiz cut the lead in half with a left footed shot. 

However, any momentum the Lions had was shut down just minutes later as the Scotts added a third. Maryville would add a fourth to further secure the 4-1 win.

Up next, Piedmont is back in action at home for senior night verses Covenant on Monday night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. with senior day festivities beginning at 5:45 p.m.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 
 - Piedmont outshot the Scott 22-19.
 - The Scotts had double the amount of corners the Lions did, 12-6.
