DEMOREST, Ga. - A windy senior night in Demorest saw the Lions drop their final CCS home contest to Covenant 2-0.
The Lions spent the majority of the first half on the defensive end, facing 9 shots. The defense held strong until a Covenant corner was put in the back of the net. Nathan Laughlin got the original header towards net, clipping the left post. The rebound was headed in by Keegan Weekly to make the contest 1-0.
Just minutes out of the half, Covenant doubled their lead and moved the score line to 2-0 in the 51st minute.
The Lions struggled to generate offensive in the second half, only totaling 4 shots.
In the final minutes of play, Piedmont would have opportunities to get one back but was unable to find the back of the net. The contest finished 2-0 in favor of the Scots.
Up next, Piedmont travels to Jackson, Miss. to wrap up CCS play against Belhaven University on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
