HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. - The No. 7 Piedmont men's golf team improved by eight shots on the final day of the NCAA Preview at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.

Playing the El Campeon Course for the second straight day, the Lions improved to a final round 6-over 294 to jump three spots on the leaderboard and record a 15th-place finish.

For the second consecutive day, ERIC PENLAND made a massive improvement, firing an even par round of 72 that included three birdies, all of which occurred in a four-hole stretch. Penland's 72 was the best round by a Lion in the event.
 

After delivering back-to-back rounds of 1-over 73 to start the tournament, JOSH HEBRINK remained consistent, only faring a shot worse on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 4-over par.

Hebrink was one of three Lions to shoot a 2-over 74 as MICHAEL CLARDY fired his best round of the event while FRED ROBERTS IV delivered a 74 for the second straight day. Although his score did not count toward the team total, newcomer MATTHEW ARIZA's 3-over 75 marked his best score of the tournament and included three birdies.

Methodist took home the team title, leading wire-to-wire and finishing with a five-shot win over second-place Emory. The Monarchs finished at 12-under after an opening team score of 273. On the individual side, Methodist's Andre Chi took home the trophy at 9-under with a final round 70.

Up next, the Lions' B team will tee it up at the Piedmont Fall Invitational in Clarkesville, Georgia beginning Monday, Oct. 4.
