MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. - The Piedmont men's golf team jumped up the leaderboard with a strong finish in the final round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Tuesday afternoon in Miramar Beach, Florida.
In tougher conditions than Monday, the Lions delivered a 6-over par 290 as a team to jump four spots into fourth place, counting two even par 71's and two 3-over 74's.
JOSH HEBRINK remained consistent, firing his third consecutive even par 71, making three birdies and three bogeys on his round. The sophomore from Elk River, Minnesota bounced back from a bogey on the par 3 16th to make birdie on the par 5 17th, nearly holing his third shot from the fairway.
After a 3-over 38 on his first nine, senior
MICHAEL CLARDY caught fire on his second side, making five birdies to come in with an even par round of 71. HIs 71 was his best round of the fall season and his five birdies tied
FRED ROBERTS IV's second round for the most a PIedmont golfer made all week in a single round.
Roberts IV fell back after Monday's 2-under 69, finishing out with a 3-over 74 that included back-to-back birdies holes 13 and 14.
One day after delivering a 2-over 73, sophomore
ERIC PENLAND battled after back-to-back double bogeys on the front nine to make a pair of birdies on his second nine and hold steady for the Lions.
CONNOR HIXSONÂ delivered his second 10-over 81 of the week out of the five spot in the lineup.
Emory took home the team title with a 12-under finishing total, 13 shots clear of second-place Methodist.
Averett's Caleb Kimbrough, who held the first round lead, took home the individual title with a final round 66.
The event concludes Piedmont's varsity team's fall 2021 campaign. The B Team is scheduled to compete at the Chick-fil-A Invitational, beginning Monday, Oct. 25 in Rome, Georgia.
