LIGONIER, Pa. - The No. 11 Piedmont men's golf team delivered a tied for sixth-place finish as play concluded Tuesday afternoon at the Tartan Invitational in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

Playing at the Laurel Valley Golf Club, host of the 1975 Ryder Cup, the Lions battled down the stretch on Tuesday, finishing with a final round 316.

Junior FRED ROBERTS IV led the team, coming in with a 3-over 75 for the second consecutive round and taking home a T-15 finish out of 66 golfers competing. Roberts IV led the Lions with three birdies in his final round and moved up the leaderboard, rebounding from an opening 83.

The only other round from Piedmont to remain in the 70's came from senior MICHAEL CLARDY, who carded a birdie and an eagle on back-to-back holes and came in with a 6-over 78. The Eastman, Georgia native was consistent throughout the event, posting scores of 79, 79 and 78.

JOSH HEBRINK produced Piedmont's third counting score with a 9-over 81 while both ERIC PENLAND and MATTHEW ARIZA delivered 82's to round out the event.

Emory took home the team title, holding off Carnegie Mellon's final day charge by two strokes at 41 over for the tournament.

Methodist's Cooper Hrabak won the individual title as he was the lone player in the field to finish under par for the event, posting a final round 3-under 69 to get to 1-under overall.

The Lions' tied for sixth overall for the event at 69-over, knotted with USA South foe Huntingdon on the team leaderboard.

Up next, the Lions will take part in the four round Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational beginning this Saturday, Oct. 16 in Miramar Beach, Florida.
