Clarkesville, Ga. – Piedmont College's women's swimming team had to work hard for every point they earned in Saturday afternoon's home swimming meet, but the Lions managed to emerge victorious in their first ever home dual.
 
Thanks to six victories in the individual events, Piedmont defeated Columbia College 118-98 at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center as part of the program's first ever home swim meet.
 
The Lions came away with two quick victories in the first two individual events of the day as LAUREN STONE and LIZZY ARRENDALE took the top spots in their respective events. Stone's 12:03.06 in the 1000 yard freestyle event was good enough for Piedmont's first victory and set the stage for Arrendale's narrow victory in the 200 yard freestyle.
 
Arrendale's time of 2:18.80 cleared second place, her Piedmont teammate Kat Stigall, by just 3.12 seconds.
 
Shortly thereafter, ASHLEY PUGH managed a 36.75 to claim the 50 yard breaststroke in a razor-thin finish with Columbia's Jessie Durflinger, who clocked in at 36.87.
 
Just two events later, GRACE NESKORIK and ADRIANA MARTIN battled to the wire in the 50 yard freestyle. Neskorik edged her teammate with a 28.04.
 
Stone added two more wins throughout the rest of the afternoon, including a victory in the third to last individual event, the 500 yard freestyle, to help lift the Lions to an historic dual victory.

Up next for the Lions is the Point Invite on Saturday, Jan. 30, beginning at 11 a.m.
