Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team saw their final action in Demorest of 2017 against Methodist University where the Lions fell 17-6 to the Monarchs.
The opening quarter was a defensive battle as only three goals were scored all of which came from the Monarchs. The first goal for the Lions came five minutes into the second quarter as
JEREMY KOHN sent one from 12-yards out to the back of the net. This goal was met by another three-goal run by Methodist to put PC down 6-1 going into the halftime break.
The Monarchs notched another two quick goals in the opening two minutes of the half going up 8-1. Kohn answered with his second of the contest with
JARED HARRIS netting another for the Lions with 10:29 left in the third. Both
JOSH COBBINA and
NICK BURNS would score before the third would end moving the score to 12-5 in favor of the Monarchs.
Methodist put in five more in the final quarter of play to PC's one by
CHRIS HADLOW in the final ten seconds of the game. The Monarchs took the final contest in Demorest 17-6 over PC.
Turning Point
--The three goal opening quarter for MU gave them the upper hand for the remainder of the contest.
Standout Performances
--
ZACH CZULADA gathered in 17 saves in the contest playing all 60 minutes.
--Aaron Ward of the Monarchs netted four on six shots as he led the offense for MU.
Inside the Box Score
--Methodist had one fewer shot on goal (34) that Piedmont had total shots (35) in the game.
News & Notes
--With the loss today Piedmont should finish as the fourth seed in the SEILC Tournament.
