GAME FACTS
Piedmont will take on Greensboro College in Game 10 of the 2016 USA South Championship Tournament on Saturday, April 16 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  The contest is set for a 10:00 am start at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex with live stats available for fans unable to make the trip.

SCOUTING GREENSBORO
Greensboro College is coming into the Saturday showdown with Piedmont after going 1-1 on the first day of the USA South Championship Tournament.  The Pride fell 21-4 to North Carolina Wesleyan to start off the postseason before posting a 5-3 win over Huntingdon in an elimination contest on Friday afternoon.  Kali Puckett led the Pride in their two-run win over HC with a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI.

SERIES RECORDS
Piedmont owns a 9-4 record in this series since the 2007 season with all nine wins coming in the last 11 meetings. This is the third postseason meeting between these two in USA South play with Piedmont taking both contests in one-run games.  The last such match-up came in 2014 as part of Piedmont's thrilling run to the USA South title.

30 FOR 30 AGAIN
Piedmont is looking for its 4th season in the last six with 30 wins or more as the team sits at 29 coming into the Saturday match-up with Greensboro.  Should the Lady Lions come away with that win over the Pride and get to 30, it would be the 3rd time PC would have accomplished that feat in four years as a USA South member.

LAST TIME OUT: USA SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT, DAY ONE
On day one of USA South Tournament action, the Piedmont College softball team split a pair of contests picking up a 1-0 win over William Peace and losing a tough 5-4 game to Averett in eight innings.

SARAH WALKER earned the start in the circle in both games with in a win against William Peace allowing just five hits while Piedmont only recorded three of its own. The winning run for the Lady Lions came in the first inning when Piedmont had a pair of hits, a walk and then a wild pitch drove in a run.

Game two provided more offense on the scoreboard but Piedmont still had just four hits despite grinding out four runs. Averett took the lead in the first and added to it with a two-run home run in the second inning making it 3-0 Cougars after the top of the second.

Piedmont got back a pair in the bottom of the frame when HALEY MCCURRY reached on an error and two came around to score for the Lady Lions. Another home run by Averett made it 4-2, but Piedmont got a long shot of its own when HANNAH HOBAN broke the Piedmont NCAA Era school record for home runs in a season with her eighth, driving a solo shot to left center.

JESSICA BAGWELL singled and LAURA CARTER scored to tie the game at four in the fifth, but neither team could break the tie in seven innings. In the eighth however, the Cougars had one run on two hits to take the lead and win the game.

NEXT UP FOR THE TEAM
Should PC knock off the Pride, the Lady Lions would play again at 2:00 pm with either NC Wesleyan or Ferrum awaiting.
