Demorest, GA - In a battle of regionally ranked foes for the Piedmont College men's tennis team yet again, it was #13 Oglethorpe University who topped the 20th ranked Lions.  

Piedmont dropped all three doubles decisions in the loss with the lone point coming at #2 singles where MATTHEW METZGER won in straight sets over Judd Motz. With the win, Metzger moves to 4-2 in singles action this season.

ROBBIE WERNER and BRYAN BARNETT dropped a tight 9-7 decision at the #3 doubles spot. The Lions could not recover from the early deficit in the match with the Stormy Petrels moving to 6-2 on the season while Piedmont drops to 3-4.

Next up for Piedmont is a pair of USA South foes at home as the Lions host Ferrum and Averett this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Turning Point
--A tight 9-7 decision at #3 doubles that went against the Lions in the 8-1 loss.

Standout Performances
--MATTHEW METZGER defeated Judd Motz at #2 singles 6-4, 6-2 to earn his fourth singles win of the season with all six decisions coming at #2 (4-2).

Inside the Box Score
--C.J. Antonio of Oglethorpe knocked off NATHAN METZGER in two, but Antonio is currenlty ranked the 23rd best player in the Atlantic South region.

News & Notes
--This is the third time in the last four matches for the Lions that Piedmont has faced a regionally ranked team having also taken on #11 Millsaps and #18 Berry. 
--Piedmont fell 7-2 to #11 Millsaps while knocking off #18 Berry 6-3.

Up Next
Conference play for the boys as the Lions host Ferrum College and Averett University for a weekend back-to-back showing in USA South action.  Ferrum is a 12:00 pm start on Saturday, March 19 while Averett is an 11 am first serve the following day.
