MICHAEL BARNES and
ZACK JOHNSON each recorded a hit in the game.
It was a pitcher's duel early on as the Lions got the first hit of the day in the second inning as Barnes singled and Johnson, just one batter later, singled as well to send Barnes to third but that was the only action the Lions saw in the game.Â
There was no score until the seventh inning when a leadoff walk was driven in by a double later in the inning. Starter
RILEY PRESNELL posted his best game of the season giving up just a single earned run and three hits while striking out four batters.
ALLEN TOKARZ entered in relief of Presnell and with his appearance broke the school record for appearances in a career with 73. Tokarz pitched two innings of relief in the game giving him a total of 13 innings pitched with appearances in eight of Piedmont's nine games.Â
The Scots added on a pair of runs in the eighth inning with both unearned after a pair of errors by the Lions in the inning.Â
Turning Point--A leadoff walk in the top of the seventh proved to provide the winning run as a double later in the inning scored the first run of the game for the Scots.Â
Standout Performances--
RILEY PRESNELL took the loss but posted one of his best outings of the season with 6.0 IP giving up just three hits and one run.Â

MICHAEL BARNES and
ZACK JOHNSON had a hit each recording the only ones of the game for Piedmont.Â
Inside the Box Score--Debity's 11 strikeouts's put him in the top five in the country in strikeouts this season as he came three K's away from doubling his season total.
News & Notes--The Lions dropped their USA South opener for the first time since joining the league. Up NextThe Lions face the Scots Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in game two of the three game series at Loudermilk Field.Â
