Metzger's Magic Moment Lifts Men's Soccer Past Hawks in 1-0 Victory at Home

Need to Know
Score:  Piedmont 1 - Huntingdon 0
Records:  Lions 3-4-3 (2-2-1 USA South), Hawks 2-6-1 (1-2 USA South)
Location: Demorest, Georgia - Walker Athletic Complex

Demorest, GA - On an absolutely saturated field at Walker Athletic Complex, the Piedmont College men's soccer team was able to overcome the elements and the visitors with a 1-0 win over Huntingdon College in USA South play on Saturday evening.

Both teams had their chances to walk away with a win as Piedmont held a 10-8 shot advantage, but it was the strike by MATTHEW METZGER in the 79th minute that proved the difference for the home team in the 1-0 win.

Metzger took a pass from CHRIS BIBLE at the top of the box and found space enough to get a shot away to the keeper's right which carried through the defense and into the net for the gamewinner.

Metzger's goal is his first of the season and puts Piedmont now at 2-2-1 in USA South play, 2nd on the league table behind only conference leader Maryville with its ten points.  Piedmont has collected seven points on two wins and tie so far in the early going of the conference schedule.

Turning Point
--MATTHEW METZGER's goal in the closing minutes of the second half that handed Piedmont the conference win at home on a drenched night in Demorest.

Standout Performances
--KENNETH HEARN in goal for Piedmont had three saves keeping a clean sheet through 90 minutes for the second time in the last four games for the Lions.
--CULLEN COPLAND led the home team with his three shots including one on frame.

Inside the Box Score
--CHRIS BIBLE picked up his third assist of the 2015 season for PC as he leads the team in that category on the year.
--Each team struggled with the weather to get much going offensively as Piedmont had ten shots, its lowest total since tallying seven against NC Wesleyan back on September 19.

News & Notes
--The Lions have come on strong lately for Head Coach Jimmy Stephens going 2-1-1 in their last four contests.
--PC is now 21-1-2 against Huntingdon in the program's NCAA Era (since 2003) having won the last four straight in the series with the Hawks.
--Piedmont's 10-8 shot advantage earlier today was the first time PC outshot its opponent in the last seven games.
