Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team evened their record at 4-4 overall with a win over Beloit College Saturday afternoon, 14-6.  The win snaps the Lions four game winless streak and marks the third time this season that the Lions have scored over ten team goals.

The first two periods saw a tight contest, but it was Piedmont who took the lead late in the first period by virtue of a Sumner Gantz goal with 11 seconds remaining in the second period to go up 5-4.

The Lions would carry their first half momentum into the second half, scoring six unanswered goals in the first ten minutes of the third period to establish a seven point lead over the Buccaneers (11-4).  Beloit found the net late in the third period, scoring two straight goals in the final minutes of the third period to inch within five of the Lions.

Piedmont would make a defensive stand in the fourth period, holding Beloit to nine shots while allowing no goals. The Lions would also post a late 3-0 run in the final minutes of the game to secure the victory.

The Lions outshot the Buccaneers 42-35 in the contest and also posted less turnovers (22-15) to pave their way to victory.

Beloit was led in scoring by Liam O'Connor, who netted three goals.  Jacob Pritscher also posted two goals for the Buccaneers in the contest.

Spencer Ortis led the Lions with a game-high five goals.  Ortis also posted a game-high in the assists column, tallying five on the day.  Taylor Carter also had a big day for the Lions, scoring four goals.  Also posting goals for the Lions were Holin Axley (2), Sumner Gantz (1), Steve Miraglia (1), and Branson Mikell (1).
