Men's Lacrosse Falls At Transylvania, 16-11

Jake Cummings and the men's lacrosse team fell to non-conference host Transylvania University by the score of 16-11.
Box Score LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team traveled to non-conference Transylvania University this afternoon and fell by the score of 16-11. The Lions fought back from an early deficit to cut the margin to 11-10 but could not stop the Pioneers in the fourth and final frame.

Piedmont struck first as Branson Mikell connected at the 10:25 mark. The Pioneers would answer with five unanswered goals in the final nine minutes to take a 5-1 advantage. After a Transylvania goal to open the second period the Lions responded with a pair of goals cutting the margin to 6-3.

The Pioneers would score four of the final six goals in the half to take a 10-5 lead into intermission.

In the third period the Lions would notch the first five goals, two coming off the stick of Nick Leaf making the score 11-10. In the fourth frame Transylvania would add three insurance goals and score the final two goals of the match en route to the five-goal decision.

Mikell led the offense with four points including a hat-trick of goals. Leaf and Holin Axley added a pair of goals respectively while goalkeeper Mick Baker earned 15 saves between the pipes.

Piedmont, now 5-7, will return to the field again on Saturday, March 30 as they host Greensboro College starting at 2:00.
