JACKSON, Mississippi - The Piedmont College men's lacrosse team opened the 2013 season with a road victory at Millsaps College this afternoon by the score of 10-7. In a contest that featured a pair of lead changes and ties respectively the Lions were able to post six goals in the final two quarters en route to the victory.

The homestanding Majors took the early advantage with the first goal of the match. The Lions would respond with four goals to take the lead until Millsaps would answer with only six seconds remaining in the first quarter. After a scoreless second quarter the Majors would respond in the third frame tying the score for the final time at 4-4.

PC would take the advantage for good as TAYLOR CARTER notched the fifth and sixth goals off assists from NICK GREEN and HOLIN AXLEY respectively. In the final quarter the Majors would creep within one goal at 8-7 until Axley posted an unassisted goal and then fed teammate Carter for an insurance goal with only 11 seconds left.

Carter would pace the Lions with four goals while Axley added a goal and four assists. NICK GREEN chipped-in with a pair of goals and assists respectively while Sumer Gantz won 8-12 faceoffs. Goalie DALE MORLEY added 10 saves between the pipes to pace the defensive effort.

The Lions, now 1-0 on the young season, will return to action again on Sunday, February 17th as they travel to Nashville, TN to take on Hendrix College in a neutral site affair starting at 1:00 CST.
