Box Score RALEIGH, North Carolina --  In a USA South matchup the Lady Lions outscored the Avenging Angels of Meredith College in the second half, but were outlasted by a count of 79-73.  After trailing 39-30 at intermission, Piedmont was able to put up 43 second half points,18 of which came from beyond the arc on 6-19 shooting (32%). 
Piedmont opened the second frame with back-to-back three-pointers from 
ALYSSA JONES and 
TAYLOR SWOSZOWSKI to close the gap to three (39-36).  Neither team would create space until Piedmont sparked a 7-0 run, that was capped by a 
LAUREN HAMEL jump shot with 11:24 left to play to put the Lions ahead by four (52-48).  Meredith would later answer with a 13-1 run to secure the victory late in the game.
ALYSSA JONES and 
LAUREN HAMEL led Piedmont's scoring attack with 14 points a piece.  The Lady Lions also placed two other scorers in double-figures.  
LAUREN ANDERSON scored 12 points while 
MARY KATE RUSHTON came off the bench, netting three shots from long range, to end up with 11.
Meredith was led by McKenzi Edwards who scored a game-high 20 points.  Tyler Gresham and Kim Hinton also scored in double-digits for the Avenging Angels, with 10 points each. 
The Avenging Angels ability to get to the free throw line proved to be the difference in the game.  Meredith was able to convert 16-21 (76%) from the charity stripe to Piedmont's 5-6 (83%).  Meredith also outrebounded the Lions 42-33 and outscored the Lions in the paint 20-10.  
The Lady Lions (9-14, 5-12 USA South) will play their regular season finale tomorrow afternoon at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina at 4:00 PM.
