Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team saw the visiting Eagles of Toccoa Falls College score first tonight at the Walker Athletic Complex only to rally with a pair of late scores for a 2-1 victory at home.  TFC appeared to be playing the role of spoiler in the Lions' 7th home game of the season when they found the back of the net with just over 15 minutes remaining, but Piedmont responded quickly with a goal of its own less than a minute later before converting a penalty kick with 6:17 left in regulation for the comeback win at Walker.

Despite doubling up the visitors in the shot count during the first 45 minutes of play, Piedmont was unable to convert any of its 12 total chances in the first half leading to a 0-0 score at the break.  The match would remain scoreless until a Toccoa Falls goal in the 75th minute of play broke the deadlock as a Mike Howell through ball found Eagle Eric Bill who touched the ball past a defender before slotting it home past outcoming Piedmont keeper Brian Gaid.

However, the jubilation of the Toccoa bench would be short lived when just 42 seconds later sophomore Stephen Sherfy's flicked header dipped to the head of teammate Sidney Smith who scored his 7th goal of the season to tie things up at one a piece with less than 15 minutes remaining.  A handball from Toccoa Falls in the box would then lead to a penalty kick being awarded to the home at the 83:43 mark in the second half.

Head Coach Jimmy Stephens called upon one of his three seniors to take the ball at the penalty spot as Grayson native Nick Weatherby stepped up to the challenge of handing his team a comeback win.  The veteran lefty calmly tucked away the chance converting the penalty for his third score of the season putting the Lions up 2-1 with less than seven minutes to play.

Helping Piedmont hold on for the one goal decision was Brian Gaid who was forced to make five saves in goal giving up just the lone score to the Eagles in the 75th minute.  Keeper Andrew Griffin made nine saves between the posts for visiting Toccoa Falls who was paced in the offensive department by Eric Bill and Tyler Timberlake with their three shots each.

With the win, the Lions move to 4-5-1 overall picking up their second win over a Georgia college in the last three games.  Piedmont will have a few days off before hitting the road this weekend for a road trip down the East Coast beginning with a 1:00 pm afternoon contest at Greensboro College on Saturday, October 8th.
