Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College softball team swept a doubleheader this evening at Walker Field from visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Agnes Scott College.  After rolling to a 9-0 shutout win, the Lady Lions continued to pour on the offense in game two grabbing a 12-1 decision from the Scotties.

In game one, PC exploded for a five run second inning after being held scoreless in the first.  Infielder Jamie Dennis kicked the scoring off with a two RBI single followed by an inside-the-park three run homer from freshman Megan McClain

Piedmont then followed up their five run second inning with a four spot in the third as outfielder Taylor Morgan knocked an RBI single before McClain contributed once again with a two RBI double.  The 9-0 lead would be the final margin as PC grabbed game one.

Taking the win on the mound for PC was #B.J. Cofer# who pitched a four hit shutout for her sixteenth win of the season.  Cofer's ERA, which ranked fourth nationally in Division III as of April 11, was lowered to a mere .64 as the junior pitcher struck out four.

Game two was more of the same as the Lady Lions tacked runs on the board in every inning they stepped up to bat.  Piedmont rattled off four runs in the opening frame care of another three run Lady Lion homer, this time coming from outfielder Raley White

After snagging a pair of runs in each of the second and third innings, PC would finish off the Scotties with another four score inning in the fourth.  The visitors walked in a run before Jennifer Wormley and Jamie Dennis knocked RBI singles.  Wormley would later cross the plate as Megan McClain capped off the scoring with her seventh RBI of the day.

Megan Kesler was keyed in on the mound for her seventh win of the season allowing just a single run on six hits to the visiting Scotties.  The freshman from Colbert, GA struck out a pair while giving up a lone walk in five innings of work.

The two game sweep moves Piedmont to 23-9 on the season while improving PC to 8-2 in conference play.  The Lady Lions will take the diamond again on Wednesday, April 21 as they host the Eagles of Emory University with the doubleheader set for a 5:00 start.
