Atlanta, GA --
The Piedmont College softball team had its season-long winning streak broken this afternoon at the hands of Emory University dropping both games of a doubleheader.  After the Lady Lions were shut out in game one 4-0, the host Eagles rolled to a 6-1 victory in game two to hand PC only its second doubleheader loss of the season.

Piedmont struggled offensively in game one managing a lone hit off the bat of freshman Rebecca Renfroe who led the Lady Lions going 1-3 at the plate.  Emory used a three run third inning coupled with an insurance run in the fourth to grab the 4-0 game one win.

Pitcher #B.J. Cofer# took the loss on the mound allowing her highest single game run total of the season with the four scores allowed to Emory.

In game two, the Eagles would again get on the board early with a four run opening inning before adding two more scores in the bottom of the sixth en route to the 6-1 victory.

At the plate, Piedmont was led by senior Michelle Crandall who went yard for the fourth time this season  in the top of the seventh.  Shortstop Megan McClain also contributed going 1-3 with a double for her thirteenth extra-base hit of the year.

Freshman Megan Kesler took the loss of the Lady Lions allowing six runs on nine hits.

The sweep drops Piedmont to 20-8 on the season including a 12-8 mark away from home.  The Lady Lions return to the diamond on Saturday, April 17 hosting a key Great South Athletic Conference doubleheader with in-state rival LaGrange College.  Game one is set for a 2:00 start.
