LaGrange, GA -- The #4 seeded Piedmont College softball team posted a split and was eliminated from the 2009 Great South Athletic Conference Tournament this afternoon in LaGrange, GA. The Lady Lions defeated #7 Agnes Scott College 12-3 in the opener but was blanked by #3 Huntingdon College 3-0 in the second elimination game.
In the run-rule shortened first game PC breezed by the Scotties blasting 12 runs on 13 hits and scoring multiple runs in every inning.
Michelle Broderick went the distance on the mound striking out four hitters while scattering six hits.
Michelle Crandall paced the offensive surge going a perfect 2-2 with two runs and three RBI's.
HC notched the eventual game winning run in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of hits. In the fourth the Lady Hawks tacked on a pair of insurance runs and held Piedmont scoreless to seal the win and advance.
With four hits in the game the Lady Lions stranded six runners, only one of which reached scoring position.
Lindsay Drevlow went 1-2 with a walk while #B.J. Cofer# posted three innings of scoreless relief striking out three.
Piedmont wraps up the 2009 season with an overall record of 15-17.
