Demorest, GA -- In the fourth Great South Athletic Conference regular season series of the season, the Piedmont College softball team defeated visiting Wesleyan College by the scores of 7-1 and 7-2. The Lady Lions pounded out 20 hits in the second conference doubleheader sweep of the year.
The win moves PC to 10-12 overall and an even 4-4 in the GSAC. The Lady Lions will turn around on short rest and take on conference host LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA tomorrow, April 16th beginning at 4:00.
In the opener the Lady Lions took control in the first with two runs on as many hits and led for the duration of the contest. The women tacked on three more in the second capped by a two-run double from Drevlow. Wesleyan would score a single run but saw the home team add two runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Lindsay Drevlow led the Lady Lions going the distance allowing one earned run while striking out five as well as driving in three runs.
In the nightcap Piedmont jumped out again with two runs in the first on five hits. The Pioneers would rally with single runs in the second and third to knot the score but saw PC's
Raley White and
Michelle Crandall blast RBI-doubles in the fourth to regain control.
Drevlow picked up the win in the finale going four innings of scoreless relief allowing no earned runs. White paced the offense going 5-7 with three runs batted in and a perfect 2-2 in stolen bases. The freshman duo of
Michelle Wagner and
Kellie Edmondson chipped-in going 3-7 respectively.
