With both games going into extra innings the Piedmont College softball team notched a doubleheader split with visiting Covenant College this afternoon at Walker Field. The Lady Lions plated the walk-off victory in the opener 3-2 but dropped the finale by the same mark.
After a scoreless first inning PC took control with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. With runners on the corners and two outs
NIKKI EASTMAN came through with a triple. The lead would remain until the sixth inning when the Lady Scots knotted the score with two runs on three hits.
The Lady Lions were unable to score in their final two at-bats and the game went into extra frames and the international tie breaker which places a runner at second base to start the inning. After holding the vistors scoreless the game ended with the bases loaded as

Starter
B.J. COFER went the distance four her fourth victory of the season. The right-hander scattered seven hits and struck out four while walking zero.
In the nightcap Piedmont scored two runs in the third as
MICHELLE WAGNER tripled home a run and scored on an outfield error. CC tied the score in the sixth inning again, and sent the game into extra frames. In the top of the eighth the Lady Scots plated a single run, and held the home team scoreless for the narrow victory.
The split moves Piedmont to 6-10 overall. The Lady Lions will return to Great South Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, March 23rd as they host Wesleyan College beginning at 5:00.
