The Piedmont College softball team dropped a pair of games this afternoon to visiting Emory University, currently ranked 20th nationally, by the scores of 5-2 and 8-0 at PC's Walker Field. The Lady Lions never led and could only muster seven hits en route to the two defeats.
In the first game the Eagles put two runs on the board in the first inning and tacked on single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. PC rallied in the seventh but fell three runs short and dropped the decision. The Lady Lions struck out 12 times and committed four errors that led to a pair of unearned runs.
In the second game it was all Emory as Piedmont could only scratch out one hit while striking out five time in the five-inning run-rule contest. For the game senior Meredith Ray led the offense going 2-3 with an RBI.
The losses drop PC to 18-19 overall. The Lady Lions will return to action again in the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament on April 21-23 in Maryville, TN with game times to be announced.
