Softball Team Ends Losing Skid By Pounding Sewanee

It was a high-powered offensive day for the Piedmont College softball team as the Lady Lions ended an eight-game losing skid by defeating visiting Sewanee-University of the South by the scores of 28-0 and 10-2. The women pounded out 38 runs on 36 hits en route to the victories.

In the first game the Lady Lions struck in the bottom of the first with 11 runs. PC tacked on four in the third and a season-high 13 runs in the fourth. Marissa Harding led the offense going 5-5 with six RBI's and five runs scored.

Game two was much of the same as the softball team notched three runs in the first and six in the second. Sewanee was able to plate single runs in the second and fifth but could get no closer and lost the run-ruled game.

For the day Harding was 7-8 with eight RBI's and seven runs scored. Megan Day chipped in going 5-8 with three RBI's and five runs scored while Emily Maxey went 3-4 with four RBI's. Michelle Broderick and Laura Puckett recorded their first collegiate victories on the mound.

PC now stands at 13-16 overall. The women will return to action again on Monday, April 2nd as they host Wesleyan College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 5:00.
