The Piedmont College softball team was eliminated from the 2006 National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship this afternoon with a pair of losses to top-seeded Olivet Nazarene University (3-2) and to Bethel College (4-0). The third-place finish is the best-ever for the program out of three consecutive trips to the NCCAA Nationals.
In the morning winner's bracket game, the third-seeded Lady Lions could not push across the equalizer at the squad fell 3-2 to top-seeded and eventual national champion Olivet Nazarene.
Later in the afternoon, PC was eliminated 4-0 by sixth-seeded Bethel.
Piedmont (30-9 overall) will now await a potential bid to the NCAA Division-III National Tournament.
