In a closely contested opening game, the Piedmont College softball team rallied in the top of the seventh to score the game-winning run and edge host Millsaps College 6-5. In the nightcap, PC notched four insurance runs in the top of the seventh and went on to cruise to a 9-4 victory this afternoon in non-conference action in Jackson, MS.
On the mound Meredith Ray recorded the victory in game one and came in and tallied a save in game two. Lindsay Drevlow notched her first career victory on the mound for the Lady Lions.
Offensively Ray contributed by going 2-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored. Marissa Harding went 3-7 with two runs scored and Emily Maxey went 4-8 with two RBI's. As a team the Lady Lions pounded out 20 hits on the day and scored in seven different innings.
The victories move PC to 4-2 overall. The Lady Lions will begin Great South Athletic Conference play on Sunday, March 5th as they travel to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL for a doubleheader set to begin at 1:00 CST.
