PC Moves To 10-0 In GSAC Play With Sweep Of Maryville

In a game with huge Great South Athletic Conference implications, the Piedmont College softball team overcame visiting Maryville College this afternoon 2-1 and 9-1. After a come-from-behind victory in game one the Lady Lions kept the momentum and used a five-run fifth inning to cruise to a 9-1 victory in the nightcap at Walker Field.

After allowing an unearned run in the top of the first inning PC was able to rally with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In game two the Lady Lions broke the game open with a five run second inning in which PC sent 10 hitters to the plate.

Meredith Ray threw a complete game to record the victory in game one. She allowed zero earned runs and struck out five. Lindsay Drevlow pitched a complete game in the finale as well allowing one earned run and striking out two.

Marissa Harding led PC offensively going 4-7 with two runs scored and an RBI. May Alves added a 3-7 day from the plate a run scored and an RBI.

The victory move Piedmont to 15-3 overall and 10-0 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will return to the field again on Thursday, March 30th as they host GSAC opponent LaGrange College at Walker Field starting at 4:00.
