In a pair of closely contested games, the Piedmont College softball team won the first game 1-0 but had their seven-game winning streak snapped in the nightcap dropping a 2-1 decision. Meredith Ray contined her impressive pitching throwing a complete-game improving her record to 6-1.
In game one, PC could only muster three hits but managed to produce the game-winning run on a May Alves single. In the second game the Lady Lions pounded out eight hits but could only score a single run and dropped the 2-1 decision.
Alves led Piedmont offensively going 2-5 with an RBI. Lindsay Drevlow went 3-5 with a run scored and Ray added a 2-4 performance. Drevlow recorded the tough-luck loss in game two allowing only one earned run.
The split moves the Lady Lions to 9-3 overall. PC will return to the field again on Saturday, March 18th as they travel to Great South Athletic Conference foe Fisk University in Nashville, TN with first-pitch slated for 12:00 CST.
