Carson Bezold continued to make history, breaking her own program record with 12 assists as Piedmont women's lacrosse cruised to a 24-0 shutout win over William Peace on Friday morning in Demorest.
The Lions left no doubt in the contest, racing out to an early lead and increasing it throughout the game. Piedmont moved the game into a running clock scenario after scoring 10 times in the opening quarter.
Piedmont took a 14-0 lead into the halftime break before adding 10 more second half goals while holding the Pacers scoreless.
Bezold assisted on half of the Lions' 24 goals on the day, breaking her own single game record for assists with 12, after recording 10 against N.C. Wesleyan and then 11 at home against Brevard.
Savannah Limehouse continued her scoring barrage, leading the team with six goals on the day while
Laura Crone displayed her outstanding versatility scoring four times while also assisting four times to place second on the team behind Bezold with eight points.
Kaitlyn Mulligan delivered her third hat trick of the season, scoring three goals while
Savannah Ivie tied a season high with two goals and
Amanda Barrett set a new season high with two goals.
The second half also saw senior defender
Noelle Poteete score her first goal of the season and the second of her career.
Up next, the Lions will have just over a week off from competition before a crucial road contest at Methodist, set for next Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m.
