Fayetteville, N.C. - The Lions raced out to an early lead in the first quarter and refused to look back, taking down Methodist 19-7.
Lovette Choloh got the scoring started for the Lions with a goal in the 11th minute and
Clara Welch followed with a goal of her own, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead. Methodist answered to cut the lead in half but Piedmont started its offensive engines and scored four unanswered goals, leading into the second quarter.
Piedmont led from then on, showing a dominant presence on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, causing 13 turnovers throughout the contest.
By the end of the first half the Lions held a commanding 9-2 lead against the Monarchs.
The Monarchs sought to fight off the ropes in the third quarter with three goals but the relentless tide of the Piedmont offense held the lead.
Piedmont brought the game home with a five goal 4th as they cruised to a 19-7 win against a crucial conference foe.
The Lions remain perfect in the USA South with a big win over a strong opponent.
