ATLANTA - Piedmont men's tennis juniors
Mark Backeberg and
Rohan Kavali saw their outstanding play during the season recognized Thursday, with both earning All-Conference recognition from the CCS.
Both Backeberg and Kavali each took home All-CCS Second Team honors after helping the Lions to another winning record, both overall and within conference play.

Of Note: The junior from Cape Town, South Africa takes home All-Conference honors for the second time in his first three seasons as a Lion. Backeberg took a leap in his junior campaign, stepping up to the top of the lineup and helping the team deliver some key wins. He led the team with five wins at each of the top two lineup spots in singles while delivering a standout 14-5 dual doubles record as well.

Singles Record: 11-5
Doubles Record: 14-6
In-Season CCS Recognition: 1x CCS Player of the Week
Of Note: Kavali won arguably the two biggest matches of the season for the Lions, all in the span of one week. In a 4-3 home thriller over Berry, Kavali prevailed in a third-set match tiebreak as the last match on court to clinch the win for Piedmont. Then, later that same week, he delivered the match-clinching win, going a full third set to defeat Covenant's Brock Boehling in a 4-3 win for the Lions.
