WILMORE, Ky. — The Piedmont baseball team faced a setback on Thursday after an 11-1 loss to Asbury.
The Eagles scored early and often, taking the Lions out of the game quickly.
Asbury struck early, scoring seven runs across the opening two innings.
Piedmont looked to battle back, but the strong offense of the Lions was held at bay by Asbury starter Ryan Yates, who shut out the Lions through five innings.
Asbury added on throughout the game, keeping Piedmont at a distance.
Carter Few launched a home run in the sixth in the hopes of providing a spark, but the Asbury lead was too great as the Eagles ended the game after seven innings.
Next, the Lions look to rebound against the Eagles tomorrow, April 3, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
