WILMORE, Ky. — The Piedmont baseball team rebounded on Saturday with a big win against the Eagles with a 13-2 win.
After a tough outing in the series opener, the Lions scored nine in the second inning to propel them to a game two victory.
Cole Ellis got the scoring started for the Lions with a solo home run in the first inning, giving Piedmont an early 1-0 lead.
Drew O'Neill got the start for the Lions and delivered a strong outing, going seven innings and allowing just two runs while pitching around traffic.
Piedmont broke the game open early in the second inning with a nine-run frame.
The Lions slugged four doubles back-to-back to give them a 6-1 lead. The Lions' scoring parade didn't end there as the lineup continued production. The inning culminated in a Jack Ryan three-run home run that gave the Lions a 10-1 lead, giving them all the offense they would need for the rest of the game.
Piedmont tacked on runs in the third, fourth and sixth to grow their lead while O'Neill kept the Asbury offense off the board.
The game ended after seven innings as Piedmont returned the favor after their run-rule loss in the series opener.
Next, the Lions look to take the rubber game of the series against the Eagles tomorrow, April 4, with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.

- Piedmont's nine-run second that put them ahead for good.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Ellis and Ryan both homered in the contest with Ryan tying the team lead in homers and Ellis collecting three RBIs.
- Ben Connelly went 3-3 in the game, coming around to score three times.
