LAGRANGE, GA.— The Piedmont baseball team suffered a series sweep at the hands of the LaGrange Panthers on Sunday by a final score of 19-9.

In a weekend series full of offense and the Piedmont pitching staff could not contain the Panthers power.

The Lions bats started hot once again, scoring six in the first two innings. Carter Few and Jack Ryan did the damage in the first while Cole Ellis struck a ball to right-center field, clearing the bases for a three-RBI triple and collecting his 100th career RBI in the second. 

The Panthers, however, remained hot, rattling off eight runs in the first, second and third,leaping out to an 8-5 lead. 

The LaGrange staff held the Lions in check as the Panthers scored in all but one inning, growing their lead to 16-3 going into the seventh.

In the seventh, Piedmont prepared to stage a late rally with a three-run inning, but the Panthers slammed the door in the bottom half, scoring three of their own and earning a run-rule win and series sweep. 

The Piedmont pitching staff ran into a hot offense and struggled against LaGrange.

Next, the Lions return home for their final regular season series of the season against the Huntingdon Hawks, with game one being set for Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- The Panthers offense was in full control of the game from the third inning onwards.
