DEMOREST, GA.— The Piedmont baseball team lost its fourth straight game in a 4-2 loss on Thursday evening.

After a weekend series where the offense was a centerpiece, the Lions struggled offensively against Huntingdon pitcher MD Johnson.

The Lions got things started early once again with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first off of a pair of RBI singles from Carter Few and Cruz Mullinix.

Andrew Misirly threw the ball well for Piedmont, going six innings, allowing two runs, and striking out two. Misirly pitched around trouble all evening but kept the Lions in the game.

Averett Thompson entered in the seventh inning for the Lions and surrendered a pair of singles early to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Thompson allowed one more run in the eighth and pitched a shutdown ninth.

In the ninth, the Lions struck the ball well but put the ball in the path of the Huntingdon as Johnson held steady, going the distance for a two-run complete game.

The hot Piedmont offense was unusually cold as the team has lost four in a row.

Next, the Lions look to snap their losing streak and celebrate the 2026 senior class with a doubleheader on the horizon on Friday, with game one set for 12 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Huntingdon's seventh inning rally that led it to victory.
