DEMOREST, GA. - The Piedmont women's lacrosse team fell behind early and could not keep pace with Hope College on Monday, falling 23-9.

Hope found the back of the cage early, and the Lions struggled to find their footing to contend with their opposition.

Hope started the contest with a goal within the opening minute and, from then, went on to score seven more unanswered goals against the Lions.

Clara Welch fired in a shot in the final minute of the first quarter to put the Lions on the board, making it 8-1 in favor of Hope.

The Lions rallied in the second, scoring five goals with Lovette Choloh scoring her 30th of the season, but the defense for the Lions was unable to stop the surging Hope offense, allowing four more to find the back of the net.

At halftime, the Lions trailed by just six as they looked to put together a strong front heading into the second half of play. 

Hope came out of halftime with a strong game plan, continuing their scoring onslaught while holding the Lions to just one goal in the third quarter. Hope found separation and maintained the distance against the Lions for the rest of the game.

Piedmont was unable to find avenues to stay within reach in the contest, ultimately falling 23-9.

The Lions faced difficult competition in their stretch of conference matchups to prepare for a strong future schedule.

Next, the Lions will face William Peace on Friday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in Demorest, Ga.
