MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Piedmont women's lacrosse team soared to a big victory, 23-1, over the Huntingdon Hawks to secure its second conference win on Wednesday night.

Piedmont hit the ground running with six unanswered goals to kick off the evening. Savannah Limehouse had a huge evening for Piedmont, scoring the first goal and adding four of the team's eight first-quarter goals.

Piedmont controlled the tempo for the entire game while never easing off the gas pedal, scoring four or more in every quarter of play.

The Lions' defense and midfield were outstanding in the contest, only allowing five successful clears for the Hawks and causing nine turnovers. The defense kept Ansli Cannon in the clear as the Lions' goalie faced just five shots while collecting one save and allowing just one goal.

Piedmont received performances from their depth, with Chloe Seymour scoring her first collegiate goal and finishing with three on the night.

Kaitlyn Mulligan also saw success, rattling the cage for three goals on the evening.

Piedmont has opened USA South Conference play with two convincing victories and looks to keep the pace.

Up next, the Lions will return to Demorest for another USA South Conference bout against Pfeiffer on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m.

TURNING POINT:
- The Lions ran away with the game early with eight goals in the first quarter and controlled the game from there.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Savannah Limehouse scored a season-high seven goals to lead the team.
- Seymour and Mulligan made their mark on the game with three goals apiece, combining for six overall.
