LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Piedmont softball freshman shortstop Anslee Saunchegraw has been named the NFCA National Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the first Piedmont softball player to receive NFCA National Player of the Week honors since Micaela Quesada in March of 2020.
The title comes off the back of her performance in the Diamond Classic tournament last weekend.
Saunchegraw slugged six home runs during the tournament, powering the Lions to four wins on the weekend and was named CCS Player of the Week on Monday.
She drove in 16 runs overall and delivered two multi-home run performances.
The Lions will return to Demorest on March 18 against Brevard, with game one set for 12 p.m.
