ATLANTA - Piedmont men's tennis sophomores
Horacio Rodriguez and
Caleb McElveen have been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Doubles Team of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The duo delivered a 2-0 record at No. 2 doubles for the Lions, racking up a pair of dominant wins for the team in Orlando on Sunday to begin the Spring Break trip.
Â
First, the two trounced Cornell College's No. 2 doubles team, 6-1, on the way to a 7-0 win for the Lions to kick off the trip.Â
Then, in the afternoon, they took down Transylvania's No. 2 doubles team in clinical fashion, 6-2, as the Lions swept the day with a 6-1 win over the Pioneers.
Â
This marks the first career CCS weekly honor for McElveen while Rodriguez takes home his second career weekly award after being tabbed as Rookie of the Week once last year.
Up next, the Lions will play four more matches over the next two days in Orlando.
