ATLANTA - Piedmont women's tennis has been picked to finish second in the Collegiate Conference of the South Preseason Coaches Poll, released late Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions, who have captured the regular season title in each of the three seasons in the league's history, are slated just behind Asbury.
Although Piedmont bested the Eagles to take the regular season title in 2025, Asbury responded by winning the CCS Tournament Title, ending Piedmont's bid for a CCS three-peat.
The Eagles totaled 49 points and seven of the eight first-place votes, while the Lions tallied 43 points and the final first-place vote.
It was a close battle for third, with Covenant (32) sliding just ahead of Maryville (31), while Huntingdon comfortably took fifth with 27 points.
Rounding out the listing was Agnes Scott (16), LaGrange (15) and Belhaven (11).
This season, the Lions must replace
Alyssa McSpadden, who departs after a legendary and record-breaking career in the green and gold. However, Piedmont returns a number of key players from the 2025 team, including
Caroline Morrison and
Jordan Ballard. They also add in a solid group of newcomers expected to contribute immediately.
Piedmont opens its 2026 spring season with a non-conference road match against CCS foe Huntingdon this Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.
The 2026 CCS Women's Tennis Championship Tournament features the Top 6 teams on Thursday, April 23 and the championship game is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 hosted by the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
