MT. BERRY, Ga. - Piedmont men's lacrosse saw its bid to three-peat as Peach Cup Champions upended with a 15-7 loss to Berry on Saturday afternoon on the road.
While the Lions jumped in front early thanks to a pair of goals from
Nick Winter, the Vikings responded with a 10-0 run lasting into the second half to take control of the contest.
Piedmont had taken the last two in the series between the two teams in dramatic fashion. However, Berry left no doubt in the win on Saturday.
Freshmen
Tate Claudio and
Grady Eyler were bright spots offensively for the Lions, with each scoring a pair of goals along with Winter. Senior
Zach Avila led the way with a pair of assists.
Defensively, goalie
Mike Eisele made a career-high 25 saves.
Up next, the Lions will continue their run of SAA opponents on the road, battling Sewanee in Sewanee, Tennessee next Wednesday, March 4 at 5 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- The Vikings held the Lions scoreless from the 8:28 mark of the first quarter until the 9:46 mark of the third quarter, taking control during the stretch with a 10-0 run.
