The Piedmont cycling team had their first race of the year at the Assault on Currahee Mountain.
The weeks before the race, Lake Russell State Wildlife Management Area had been hit by winter weather, making the conditions on the course a tougher task to tackle.
On the men's side, Shannon Himstedt got first in the men's open long race. He was followed by Pearson Bruhns in third, Kaden Zimish in fourth, and Preston Eye in fifth.
Many others of our men athletes made up the top 10 as well.
On the women's side, Grace Wilson got first in the women's open long race. She was followed by Katie Prowell in second place and Emma Frost in third place. Beyond the long race, Morgan Stephens got first in the women's open short race.
The team filled the podiums for their first race of the season.
The Lions look to keep the pace at more gravel events further into the season.
