MARYVILLE, TENN.— The Piedmont men's basketball team started off their weekend road trip with a tough loss to the Maryville Scots by a final score of 95-63.
The Scots offense came to play as they had a strong shooting night, landing 15 three-pointers, good for a 41% percentage.
While Maryville never took a massive lead in the opening half, they maintained a comfortable one as the Lions could not find a defensive stop to give their offense a leg up as the Scots shot 60% from the field in the half.
Fisher Darden led the Lions in points on the night as the senior remains consistent and hot for the Lions, finishing with 13 points.
Maryville's offensive onslaught didn't end in the first as they came out of the locker room hot in the second half, racing out to a 62-34 lead. The Lions would try and battle back into the contest, but the Scots stayed strong, concluding the night with a final score of 95-63.
Piedmont falls to 0-3 in the CCS, while the Scots stay atop the standings with an undefeated record of 4-0.
Piedmont will look to turn around quickly as they travel to Lookout Mountain, Ga., to face off against the Covenant Scots at 4 p.m. on Jan. 17th.
