DEMOREST, Ga. - Piedmont men's soccer was unable to keep pace with No. 3 Emory in a 4-0 loss on a humid Wednesday night at the Walker Athletic Complex.
With the loss, Piedmont's four game home win streak to start the season has been snapped.
The third-ranked Eagles showed why they are a top five team, scoring three times in the first half and once more early in the second to coast to the victory.
However, the Lions held tough in the early going, with the Eagles not breaking through until the 24th minute on a goal from Adeyemi Oni.
Emory struck with its second goal quickly, making it 2-0 in the 32nd minute before adding on a third just before the break.
Coming out of halftime, the Eagles pounced with their fourth and final goal of the night.
The Lions were able to create a few good looks in the second half, as a rebound shot from
Colin Vogel required an extraordinary diving save from the Emory goalkeeper to keep Piedmont off the scoreboard.
Up next, the Lions will open up CCS conference play with a trip to Maryville. Kickoff is slated for Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
