ATLANTA - Piedmont men's soccer senior
Delroy Mattis has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Valdosta, Georgia native enjoyed a breakout week for the Lions, scoring all three of the team's goals, including a pair of late game winners in one goal victories.
Â
In Piedmont's 2-1 win over Toccoa Falls on Wednesday, Mattis scored both of Piedmont's goals, putting away the game winner in the 84th minute off an assist from
Colin Vogel.
Â
Then, on Friday, he scored from nearly the exact same spot, this time on a header off a free kick from
Tyler Vogt.
His goal came in the 59th minute of a resumed game against Warren Wilson that began on Sept. 6, putting the Lions ahead 4-3, where the score remained until the game was called with 18:34 left to play, giving the Lions a 4-3 victory and a 2-0 week.
This marks the first career weekly award for Mattis, who was an All-CCS Second Team honoree in 2024.
Up next, the Lions will have their work cut out, hosting No. 3 Emory in Demorest on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
